Refining trip starting and ending locations when estimating travel-demand at large urban scale

چکیده
Demand estimation is an important step for multiple applications in urban studies. However, the level of accuracy required depends on objective study. In dynamic traffic microsimulation, demand needs to be accurate, as it intended describe individuals' trips a very small-scale. this case, poor trip initiation, path, and endings could result wrong city-block scale's state. Estimating at large-scale with high-resolution not only challenging because requires large volume data from sources, but underlying mathematical problem considerable thus hard solve. paper, we address issue starts ends when modeling perimeters. We propose enhance location initiation termination by merging heterogeneous public datasets. To do so, develop series algorithms that identify fine-mesh areas where reliably start or end share estimated within these sub-areas, following distribution purposes (Home, Work, Shop, etc.). The method deployed Lyon city, France, validated extraction it. Micro-simulation results show demand, once accurately distributed, changes overall network's performance, confirming significant influence dynamics.

Estimating Through Trip Travel without External Surveys
Since through trips can be a significant portion of travel in a study area, estimating them is an important part of travel demand modeling. In the past, through trips have often been estimated using external surveys. Recently, external surveys were suspended in Texas, so Texas transportation planners need a way to estimate through trips without using external surveys. Previous research has focu...

In this issue of the Journal, we present the final article in our yearlong series on education and training in pathology and laboratory medicine. This article, by Hsieh and Nolan,1 is based on the results of a survey of pathology residents designed to assess the confidence, knowledge, and skills of residents at the beginning of residency training. Understanding where residents begin in terms of...
متن کاملThe Measurement of Urban Travel Demand
It is a truism that the transportation system is a critical component of every urban economy, and that transportation policy decisions can have a profound effect on the development of the urban system. Public transportation projects are often massive and mutually exclusive, with irreversible cumulative effects over long periods. If major social losses are to be avoided, careful planning based o...
متن کاملForecasting Net Induced Travel Demand for Optional Trip Purpose by Trip Production Model with Accessibility
Predicting net induced demand can be helpful for better feasibility study before investigating transportation infrastructure. The net induced demand can be defined as newly generated trips, but not shifted trips, by some improvements in transportation systems. This study only focused on the net induced demand rather than any other concepts belong to the general term “induced demand”. The net in...
متن کاملA Contingent Trip Model for Estimating Rail-trail Demand
The authors develop a contingent trip model to estimate the recreation demand for and value of a potential rail-trail site in north-east Georgia. The contingent trip model is an alternative to travel cost modelling useful for ex ante evaluation of proposed recreation resources or management alternatives. The authors estimate the empirical demand for trips using a negative binomial regression sp...
